ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Author, train driver, horticulturist and arborist, Mark Dowler’s career path has been as diverse as it has interesting.
Born in 1965, the eldest of four children, his family moved from the quiet country town of Bathurst to the rapidly expanding western outskirts of Sydney in 1970. During his teenage years he worked in his parent’s garden centre on weekends and during school holidays, developing a passion for nature and gaining satisfaction from helping things grow. He attended the Hawkesbury Campus of the University of Western Sydney, completing three courses, including a Masters Degree in Applied Science.
Mark now lives in Wollongong and drives passenger trains for NSW Trainlink, but maintains a strong interest in the natural world through his involvement with conservation and local bush regeneration.
His first novel ‘Savannah’ is a meticulously researched and comprehensive insight into the dynamic natural world found inside Kruger National Park, South Africa. As retirement draws closer Mark is looking forward to doing more writing, indulging in his hobbies of reading, bush walking, gardening and travelling with his wife Vicky.
